Iceberg miles
The pump is the visible tip of a driving-cost iceberg.
Enter the miles, the miles per gallon, and a price per gallon. The page shows the gallons, the fuel cost of that trip, and the cost per mile. No account. The answer stays on this page. This does not look up a pump price, does not offer a route, and does not promise cheaper gas.
Not a pump price and not a route.

A pass for the whole site
The answer above is free. You do not pay to see it. An optional pass would cover the whole site, pay what you can, instead of a separate charge to save this one result.
What the pass is for
- A letter you can use to dispute a medical bill
- A checklist for a state heating-aid application
- A pack of scripts for canceling a subscription
This is a preview of the offer, not the documents, and not a payment. This page cannot charge you.

How this is calculated
Gallons = miles ÷ miles per gallon. Trip fuel cost = gallons × the price per gallon you enter. Cost per mile = trip fuel cost ÷ miles. The trip is shown to the cent when it lands on a cent, and to a tenth of a cent otherwise. The cost per mile is shown to a tenth of a cent.
Sources
This uses only the numbers you type.
Assumptions
- The miles, miles per gallon, and price per gallon are the numbers you want counted.
- The same miles-per-gallon figure applies to the whole trip.
- Example trips are made up and are not station prices.
What happens to these numbers
What you type is used only to calculate this page. It is not saved and not sent. Refreshing clears it. The Iceberg log offer does not save the trip.
Limits
This is not a pump price, a route, or a promise of cheaper gas. It does not include insurance, tires, tolls, parking, or depreciation. It is not financial, legal, or benefits advice. If a charge on a receipt looks wrong, ask the station that billed it.
