Getting help

Write a rent-help call sheet from the office number you type

The page does not name a rental program or a grant.

This is not a list of rental programs and not legal advice. A phone number you did not type is not checked.

Who it is for

Someone who has a housing-office number from a letter, a 211 referral they already received, or a city page.

Do this next

  1. Type the phone number from that page or letter.
  2. Choose what you need to ask.
  3. Copy the script.
  4. Call and write down the date they give you.
  5. If you have nowhere to sleep tonight, tell them that in the first sentence.

Who this will not work for

  • A directory of housing agencies. This page has none.
  • A promise of rent money.
  • Someone in immediate danger. Call local emergency services.

What you type stays on that page until you refresh. It is not saved and not sent.

Two examples

These entries are made up, except the calendar dates, which are copied from pages already on this site.

Example one

Rent-help call sheet
Name: Ada Example
City I typed: Example City
Office I typed: Example Rent Office
Phone I typed: (555) 010-0160
I will say:
Hello, my name is Ada Example.
What papers do you ask for, and is an application being taken right now?
What date does your page give, if it gives one? Please say it so I can write it down.
This sheet does not list a program, a grant, or a phone number of its own. Anything not typed here is not checked.

Example two

Rent-help call sheet
Name: Sam Example
City I typed: Sample Town
Office I typed: Sample Housing Desk
Phone I typed: (555) 010-0177
I will say:
Hello, my name is Sam Example.
If someone is facing a lockout or has nowhere to sleep tonight, what does your office say to do today?
What date does your page give, if it gives one? Please say it so I can write it down.
This sheet does not list a program, a grant, or a phone number of its own. Anything not typed here is not checked.
